Twitch Channel Points setup guide
How to play videos with Twitch Channel Points
Create a Video reward in Blerp, choose the clip viewers will trigger, and connect your Blerp browser source to OBS. When a viewer redeems that reward in Twitch chat, Blerp plays the clip on your stream. Start with one short reaction video so you can test the picture and sound before adding more.
Before you start
- A Twitch channel with Channel Points available. Twitch currently makes the feature available to monetized streamers after creator onboarding; an invitation alone does not finish that setup.
- A Blerp account connected to the Twitch channel you want to manage. You do not need to install a custom Twitch bot to use Blerp rewards.
- OBS or another streaming app that accepts browser sources. Blerp supplies the browser source URL for your stream; keep that personal URL private.
Already signed in? The setup button opens Channel Points. New here? Sign in first, then continue to the same dashboard. Connect Twitch there if it is not linked.
Set up and test your reward
- 1
Connect Twitch and open Channel Points
Sign in to Blerp with the channel you stream on, or link Twitch in your account settings. Open Channel Points. If you already have Twitch rewards, let the dashboard sync them before adding another.
- 2
Choose Video
Select Video in Reward ideas, then choose the video you want to use from the picker. Pick a short, recognizable reaction for your first reward. This creates a fixed-clip reward, not a queue where viewers paste any video URL.
- 3
Name the reward and set a point cost
Give viewers a title that says what plays, such as Play the victory clip. Set its point cost, cooldown, and any per-viewer or per-stream limits you need, then save. The price and limits are your choices; there is no point cost that suits every channel.
- 4
Connect the browser source to OBS
Open Blerp's browser source settings and add Main (Alert Box) to the OBS scene you stream. Standard video alerts play in the Alert Box. If you configure an on-screen or fullscreen effect, also follow the Fullscreen source instructions.
- 5
Test the reward and a real redemption
Use the reward's test action first. Then check a real redemption from Twitch's Channel Points menu: it should trigger the selected clip in the active OBS scene. A test preview alone does not confirm that Twitch is connected.
- 6
Check a short recording
Record a few seconds in OBS and play it back. Confirm the video is visible, the sound reaches the recording, and the clip does not cover something important. Adjust its volume and placement before your next stream.
After signing in, connect Twitch if it is not linked, then choose Video in the Channel Points reward ideas. The button opens your rewards dashboard; this guide stays available for the remaining steps.
Three video reward ideas to start with
A short victory clip gives viewers a way to celebrate a win. A reaction clip works for a running joke your regulars already know. A dramatic entrance can introduce the next round or a new guest. Use clips you have permission to show on stream.
Keep the reward title specific. Play the victory clip tells a new viewer what they get, while Random reward does not. Begin with a cooldown so back-to-back redeems do not drown out the stream; adjust the cost after you see how often viewers use it.
Want viewers to submit YouTube or TikTok links?
A fixed Video reward plays the clip you selected. Viewer-submitted links are a different setup: use Blerp Media Share, where you can review submissions in a queue before they play. Do not promise that pasting an arbitrary URL into a fixed-clip reward will load that video.

Why does the clip preview work but nothing plays in OBS?
Check that the Blerp Main (Alert Box) browser source is present and visible in the scene you are recording. Confirm its URL and refresh the source. For an effect configured to use Fullscreen, connect that source too. A preview in the Blerp picker is separate from playback on your stream.
Why can I see the video but not hear it on stream?
Check the clip's volume, the Blerp source, and the OBS mixer. If you use Control audio via OBS, check the source's recording/output routing as well as monitoring. Listening in headphones is not enough: confirm the audio in a short recording.
Can I do this without Twitch Affiliate or Partner?
Check whether Twitch has enabled Channel Points for your channel after creator onboarding. Twitch's current documentation describes availability for monetized streamers, so older Affiliate-only instructions may not apply. Blerp cannot enable native Twitch Channel Points on an ineligible account.
Does a video reward require a paid Blerp plan?
Reward and video allowances depend on your account and plan. The dashboard shows when a choice needs an upgrade. Check the current plans before assuming that every video reward, extra slot, or effect is included for free.
