For streamers
Twitch Emotes Without Affiliate four ways, and what viewers need for each
Custom emotes used to be the first thing Affiliate unlocked. In 2026 there are four ways to have them before that, and one of them is Twitch itself.
The four ways
Twitch's own emotes, before Affiliate
On May 13, 2026 Twitch announced Monetization for All: emotes, subs, Bits, badges and Channel Points for eligible streamers, onboarded in the Creator Dashboard, rolling out globally. A payout still needs Affiliate or Partner. Check your dashboard for what your channel has.
7TV, BTTV and FFZ channel sets
Sign in to any of the three with your Twitch account and add emotes from their libraries to your channel. No Affiliate, no limit worth hitting. Viewers see them with an emote extension.
Blerp emotes
Upload your own still or animated emotes on Blerp, or add ones you find in emote search. Anyone can. They show in your chat for viewers with the Blerp extension, and play in your Blerp alerts for everyone.
Follow and sub emotes, later
Once you're Affiliate, Twitch's subscriber emote slots and emote tiers add to all of the above. Nothing you set up with 7TV, BTTV, FFZ or Blerp changes.
Who sees what
| Emotes from | Who can add them | Who sees them in chat |
|---|---|---|
| Twitch (Monetization for All) | Eligible streamers, per the Creator Dashboard | Everyone in Twitch chat |
| 7TV, BTTV, FFZ | Any streamer with a Twitch account | Viewers with that service's extension, or Blerp's |
| Blerp | Anyone | Viewers with the Blerp extension; everyone in Blerp alerts |

Make them worth seeing
- Pin which extension to install, once per stream. Emotes nobody can see are just words.
- Start with five that fit your chat's jokes; big sets get ignored.
- If you also stream on Kick or YouTube, link your accounts on Blerp so the same set shows there.
Questions
What are the Affiliate requirements now?
Twitch's May 2026 post lists 4 streamed hours, 4 different days, a minimum of 3 average viewers on 4 days and 25 followers. That is for Affiliate and payouts; emotes no longer wait for it.
Can viewers use my 7TV emotes in other channels?
Only in your chat, and only viewers with an emote extension. Globals from each service work in every channel.
Do Blerp emotes work on Kick, YouTube or X?
Yes, for viewers with the Blerp extension, in Twitch, Kick, YouTube, TikTok LIVE, X and Rumble chat. Chat emotes on every stream
What size should an emote be?
Upload a square picture; Blerp makes every chat size from it, 28, 56 and 112 px, the sizes Twitch and BTTV use, plus 320 px for overlays.
