Troubleshooting guide

Stream Alerts Not Working? how to fix alerts in OBS

Most alert problems come down to the browser source, OBS audio or a platform that needs reconnecting. Work down this list, test after each step, and your alerts will be back before chat notices.

Alerts don't show up

  • Is the browser source in this scene?

Alerts only play in scenes that include your alert browser source. Add it to every scene you go live with, and make sure it isn't hidden.

  • Refresh the source

In OBS, open the browser source's properties and choose Refresh cache of current page.

  • Check the URL

Copy the browser source link again from Blerp. A link from an old account or a typo shows nothing.

  • Check its size and position

A source dragged off the canvas or scaled tiny plays alerts nobody can see.

Alerts show but there's no sound

  • Check the OBS mixer

Make sure the browser source isn't muted or turned all the way down.

  • Control audio via OBS

If this is on in the source's properties, check its Audio Monitoring in OBS. Monitor Only keeps the sound off your stream.

  • Record a test

Record a few seconds in OBS and play it back. Hearing an alert in your headphones doesn't prove it's on stream.

Test alerts work but real ones don't

  • Reconnect your platform

Open Integrations and reconnect Twitch, Kick, YouTube or TikTok LIVE if it shows a problem.

  • TikTok LIVE needs Start

Press Start on the TikTok Live integration each time you go live.

  • Check the alert is on

Make sure the alert for that event is switched on and covers the platform you're live on.

  • Check your plan

With Blerp, alerts for follows, subs and other platform events need Blerp Unlimited.

Questions

Why do alerts play twice?

The same browser source is in OBS twice, often once in a scene and once in a nested scene or a second OBS profile. Remove the duplicate.

Why are alerts delayed?

Alerts wait their turn. If a burst of subs or redeems comes in, they play one after another. A long alert or video holds up the ones behind it.

My Stream Deck sounds don't play in OBS.

That's usually OBS audio routing. Fix Stream Deck sounds
