Stream Deck audio help

Stream Deck sounds not playing in OBS?

First check which key you pressed. Blerp's Custom Button plays through your Blerp Alert Box browser source. Elgato's Soundboard > Play Audio key plays a local file through your computer's audio output. The fixes are different.

Using the Blerp Custom Button key?

This is the key you set up in Blerp with a Sound block. It does not use Stream Deck's Play Audio output device.

  1. 1

    Check the Alert Box source

In Blerp's browser source setup, check that Main (Alert Box) is live in the OBS scene you stream. If it is missing, add that source there; the Fullscreen source is for on-screen effects.

  2. 2

Press the key and watch OBS

Press your Blerp Custom Button key. If the sound plays in Blerp but not OBS, check the Alert Box source's URL and refresh it. If its audio appears in the OBS mixer, make sure it is not muted.

  3. 3

    Record a short test

Record a few seconds in OBS and play it back. Hearing the sound in your headphones does not prove your viewers can hear it.

Using Elgato Play Audio instead?

A Play Audio key plays a file on your computer. Hearing it in your headphones does not prove OBS is capturing that output. Check the key's output device, then make sure OBS captures that device or the Wave Link Stream Mix that contains it. Watch the OBS mixer while pressing the key, then make a short recording to confirm viewers will hear it. See Elgato's soundboard setup guide for its audio routing steps.

One last check before going live

If you can hear the sound but the recording cannot, open OBS Advanced Audio Properties. Check that the relevant source is sent to the track you use for your stream or recording; “Monitor Only” does not send it to the output. For the mixer controls, see OBS's audio mixer guide.
