Kick guide
How to Stream on Kick stream key, OBS settings, going live and your first rewards
Kick works with OBS, Streamlabs Desktop and any app that streams over RTMP. You copy two values from your Creator Dashboard, set a title and a category, and press Start Streaming. Here is the whole setup, the settings Kick recommends, what Kick's programs ask for, and how to make your first streams interactive without paying for anything.
Make a Kick account and open the Creator Dashboard
Sign up at kick.com and pick your username with care: it becomes your channel link. Turn on two-factor authentication while you're there, because Kick asks for it later and it protects your stream key.
Open the Creator Dashboard from your profile menu. That's where everything in this guide lives: the stream key, the stream info form, the Achievements page that tracks your progress toward Kick's programs, and your chat settings.
Any account can go live. Kick Streamer status, which older guides call the Affiliate program, only unlocks paid subscriptions.
Find your Kick stream key
- In the Creator Dashboard, click Channel, then Stream URL and Key.
- Kick hides both values behind dots. Press the eye icon to show one, then copy it.
- The same page lists Kick's recommended encoding settings and offers an OBS profile to download.
- Never show the key on stream or in a screenshot. If it leaks, press Reset and paste the new key into OBS.

Connect OBS or Streamlabs Desktop
- 1
Open Settings, then Stream
In OBS, set Service to Custom. Paste Kick's Server URL into Server and your Stream Key into Stream Key, then press Apply.
- 2
Set the output
Under Output, pick CBR and a bitrate under your upload speed. Kick takes up to 8,000 kbps and a 2 second keyframe interval.
- 3
Or connect Streamlabs
In Streamlabs Desktop, open Settings, Stream, and press Connect next to Kick. Sign in through your browser and it streams without a key. Set your title on Kick after you go live; Streamlabs doesn't set it for you.
Stream settings Kick recommends
| Setting | Kick recommends |
|---|---|
| Resolution | 1920x1080 at up to 60 fps, Kick's maximum |
| Rate control | CBR. Kick doesn't take variable bitrate |
| Bitrate | 1,000 to 8,000 kbps, under your upload speed |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds |
| Encoder | H.264: x264 on veryfast, or NVIDIA NVENC and AMD on P6. No H.265 |
| Audio | Stereo, 48 kHz at most |
From Kick Help, How to stream on KICK.com, read November 3, 2026. If the stream stutters, Kick says to drop the bitrate by 1,000 kbps at a time, or pick a lighter preset.
Set your title and category, then go live
- On the dashboard's Stream page, open Edit Stream Info. Add a title, pick a category and a language, and switch on the mature label if your stream needs it.
- Do this before you start. Kick says a stream may not start correctly without a title and a category.
- Press Start Streaming in OBS. The dashboard shows your preview, viewers and time live once Kick gets video.
- Press Stop Streaming to end. Kick shows your viewers an offline banner and saves the VOD to your channel.

First-stream checklist
- Run a speed test and keep your bitrate well under the upload number.
- Check that game, mic and music sit at sane levels in OBS's mixer before anyone hears them.
- Make a starting-soon scene so the first minute isn't your desktop.
- Open your Kick chat on a second screen or your phone so you don't miss the first hello.
- Post your schedule on your socials and in your Kick About section, and stick to it.

From Kick Help's Streamer status, Verified Streamer, Partner Program and revenue split pages, read November 3, 2026. Kick says the Partner metrics can change and that meeting them makes you eligible, not accepted. Your Achievements page tracks all of these.
Kick pays a 95/5 split: you keep 95% of subscription and KICKs revenue, and the 5% covers payment processing. Paying out needs Kick Streamer status first, and each step up asks for more.
Kick streaming tips
- Stream on a schedule. Every Kick program counts hours and chatters over the past 30 days, so steady beats big.
- Pick a category people browse and a title that says what is happening right now.
- Have something for chat to do from stream one: a sound reward, a goal to push, a command to type.
- Thank every follow and sub by name. An alert makes sure you see them.
- If you also stream on Twitch or YouTube, Kick's help covers Restream, so you can keep both while you grow on Kick.
